Volumen Especial para el quinquenio 2006-2010

Abstract

This volume of Revista Geofísica comprises a five-year period of publication (Ja- nuary 2006 to December 2010) and was compiled as part of a modernization pro- gram in the Commission on Geophysics of the Pan American Institute of Geography and History (PAIGH) aimed at improving the dissemination of geophysi- cal information among PAIGH member countries and the scientific community in general. Considering the role that Revista Geofísica plays in Latin America and the importance of having an up-to-date forum for both the publication of research re- sults and the distribution of geophysical information of interest, the Commission on Geophysics introduced several specific measures that included the need to eliminate delays in publication that have been accumulating over several years. The publica- tion of this volume thus corresponds to a renewed effort in promoting a timely dis- semination of information throughout the Panamerican region and is expected to offer greater incentives to potential authors to submit current, quality contributions in their field of study. Three types of contributions are currently considered for publication: (i) Unpublished Research Articles, (ii) Original Technical Reports, and (iii) Informative Technical Notes. This expansion in the range of information that can be provided to the scientific community was initiated with the previous volume of the Revista.
