Instantánea de un porfiriano. Ernesto Chavero: de funcionario público a empresario editorial, 1874-1921

Abstract

Alfredo Chavero has been, hitherto, unknown in Mexican Historiography, in spite of the fact that he was an important entrepreneur in the editorial world at the beginning of the XXth century. Raised in a milieu of intellectuals, writers, historians and politicians, he bears always a surprise for those who learn about his life. This paper reveals the journey of a man that made profit of all the resources he could use in order to enter political life and become a businessman. Being a part of a family that belonged in the Porfirian elite, had the capacity to build social, politica, economical networks that he used in order to create his business.
